If your prom is this year I bet that it is all you can think about. Of course, you want to look perfect and you want your hair to be romantic and dreamy. Maybe you want to fit in with your friends and you are planning your hairstyles together, maybe you want to stand out and surprise everyone with a fabulous hairdo. Whatever it is just make sure that you feel comfortable with it and that it makes you feel beautiful. Before you start looking for your perfect prom hairdo there are some things you should consider.
The length of your hair is the first thing to notice because it should be below your shoulders if you would like to make some of the classic looks. Another thing to consider is that you should not go over the top with your hairstyle. Looking natural is a big trend in the recent years. You can wear your hair down and embellish it with some nice hair accessory or you could make a nice braided bun, or loose waves. So think of a few favourite styles you would like to have for that special night and try them out a couple of weeks before just to get the feel for them.
Sweet Braid Wrapped Bun
Divide the hair into three sections – one for the bun, and two smaller ones for the braids. First make the bun and then braid the two other pieces and wrap them around the bun and pin them with some bobby pins. If you are feeling free spirited and hippy this is the style you should go for! Keep in mind that you need longer hair for this style because the braided crown needs to go all the way around your head. Make a deep side parting and start your braid there making a full circle around your head. You can use real flowers or you can use plastic ones if you want your hairdo to last longer.
As we all know styling your hair takes some time and practice and it can be a hustle but the great thing about having long hair is how much fun you can have! You have the freedom to make anything you heart desires and hands can make. It doesn’t have to be just getting your hair in a bun, you can mix things up. Braid some strands, curl some, and tease some, anything. Half updos are great for the warm weather and go fabulously with a summer dress or even for a more formal occasion if you like. With a half-up, you feel all dolled up and fancy but you are still relaxed.
Bouffant Half Updo With Lovely Curls
A hairstyle that will make you feel like a queen, and you made your own crown, how fabulous is that! All you need are some clear elastic bands and some bobby pins! Use a two facing mirrors to make sure that you made the perfect heart shape. A half top knot doesn’t have to always be at the top of your head. You can wear it loosely like this and leave some strands out. If you have naturally wavy hair this is such a good hairstyle to make – it will not take you more than a minute. Just comb your hair away from your face and tie it with a clear elastic and you are done!
Fluffy Big Bow Half Updo
For this lovely hairstyle, you will first need to tease the hair in the back of your head a lot. The bouffant simply needs teasing and hairspray to keep it in place. You might also consider using bobby pins in the same colour as your hair so that they are not visible. A youthful and hip hairstyle that you can make even if your hair is not super long. Tease the hair before making the bow if you want it to be nice and fluffy.
